Steven Tye
Dad. Innovator. Chainsaw Wielder. Musician.

For over 20 years, I have worked in software development. One of those careers that is difficult to explain to distant relatives. You solve problems. Make peoples’ jobs easier. On a good day, you make systems that had a positive impact on hundrds of thousands of families. On a bad day, you just make bad ideas run faster.

At my core, there is a desire to create. To make. To tell stories that help to communicate big ideas. To invite people think, to laugh, to dream.
Although I have self-published one Science Fiction story, I am still exploring genre. My next release will be a short novel based around a spiritual allegory.
My family and I live on a rural retreat in North Queensland, Australia where we host guests and groups.

Author Notice:
All we need here is three powerful words — words that immediately identify who you are and what readers can expect from you.
The question readers always ask me…
Did you spellcheck this?
And I always reply…
Yes....
What people get wrong about me…
One sentence I try to live by…
Smile often. Bless others as I have been blessed.
A failure I’m grateful for…
A place that always recharges me...
Home. Also Lake Wanaka, New Zealand, with a glass of Marlborough Pinot Noir.
If I could time-travel for one day…
The best message a reader could send me…
"I read your book!"
This month’s thought…
Factoids
My wife is also self published! https://awakenretreats.com.au/index.php/books/
I have done some minor voiceover work in the past, and decided to narrate my first novel! That was a lot more work than I'd expected!
I sing, play guitar, bass, drums, hand percussion and tin whistle
Animals that share our property:
A mob over over 100 of these smaller-statured kangaroo relatives share our hope. Easily startled, they are most active from dusk to dawn.
Green, with a burgendy chest with flecks of bright yellow.
Occasionally bright blue with a friendly smile, these guys are non-venomous mice catchers.
My favourite recipies to cook
Mushroom Risotto
Deglazed with a little Marsala and finished with fresh thyme and a dollop of marscopone. Chicken optional.
Smoked Beef Brisket
A cheap cut smoked for up to 12 hours on Australian Ironbark.
Chicken and Cashew Nut
The first "fancy" meal I learned to cook for my family. Chicken marinated in soy, oyster, garlic, chilli, chinese wine and sesame oil, wok fried with onions, capsicums and snow peas. (and cashews)
