“The most amazing single book that I know.” The words of John Simopoulos, Dean of Degrees at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, talking about today’s featured book – W. G. Sebald‘s Austerlitz – rare praise indeed and an exceptional recommendation.
In today’s Write Report, Donna brings us news of the year’s first case of plagiarism… and the first working week isn’t even over yet. Neale Donald Walsch, author of the best-selling series “Conversations with God,” apparently posted an essay on the website Beliefnet.com that was largely lifted from elsewhere. Whatever happend to “thou shalt not steal”? And books sales for 2008 are largely the same as the previous year – although children’s books rose by 6%.
We couldn’t do it without you, and that’s the truth. You really do keep us on the air.
If you value truly independent broadcasting – not beholden to special interest groups, the curse of political correctness or some nefarious media baron – then please support us now.
Here are our goals…
Goal #1: We Go Weekly!
We’d love to be with you more often than once a month. But every show needs a lot of time to prepare… Our first goal is to produce a top-quality show every week – please help us get there!
Goal #2: We Go Video!
Wouldn’t it be nice to see our guests? Video will add a new dimension to what we do (and yes, we’ll always have top-quality audio available, too).
Goal #3: We Go On The Road!
Help LAD get off our tushies and produce some of the best location shows you’ve ever heard. We can do it – with your help!
You can cancel at any time (but we hope you won’t!). And thank you – your kind patronage truly makes all the difference.
